Not all vox are content with doing the same thing over and over again, to great loss of life, expecting things to change. In 2094, the result of painstaking collaborative work has resulted in a brilliant, lightning fast ship bursting out of the relative safety of the nestbelt and making haste for Saturn. Unarmed yet filled with all manner of countermeasures, it successfully evaded the Solarian pursuit fleet and disappeared into the clouds. The forces of Nova Bohemia searched for it to no avail, and it was assumed that the ship disintegrated and failed at doing whatever it was meant to do.
Then, a year later, reports of strange raiders nipping at the outskirts of the kingdom began trickling in. A couple skirmishes and shipwrecks later, it was found to be none other but the loathsome vox. The ship was, in fact, a seeding ship - leading to the vox’s creation of a tribal coalition known as the Orange Beaks. The Saturnian vox are different from the Earthborne ones in many ways, but what is iconic about them is the stripe they paint on their beaks that led to their name.
Due to the perils of Saturnian travel, quashing the Orange Beaks fully is not quite feasible. Those who live on the frontier of the empire are constantly at risk of a raiding party robbing them of everything at best and killing them all at worst. With the kingdom’s recent tribulations, though, there have been more and more accounts of trade and even cooperation between the Orange Beaks and the neglected and impoverished remote outposts. Some vox even work on Bohemian outposts, as being strangely more open and peaceful alienates them from their clan members. This does not rule out the still much more ubiquitous hostilities and raids, but some areas do legitimately enjoy a sense of peace.
All in all, a fragile coexistence has begun to take place between the vox and some the humans of the remote areas, as the fat umbilical cord of royal trade fleets which both rely on in different ways has gotten leaner and leaner in the recent years. No matter how good it may seem, though, it is one spark away from disintegrating into nothing again.
